The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) wants an entire continent engaged in the buildup for the 19th Asian Games in September.
Tagaytay City is stepping up to the plate.
The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) is taking OCA’s “Asian Games for All” program to the hometown of its president, where it will host the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run on Monday, with the country’s top sports officials and athletes joining the event.
“As part of the OCA family, the POC together with the national sports associations are one in celebrating and promoting the forthcoming Asian Games,” POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, who is also mayor of the popular vacation spot, said.
The OCA’s “Asian Games for All” campaign started in April and is three-pronged—the National Olympic Committees: Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run, Asian Games Youth Reporter Project and Hangzhou Asian Games Children’s Art Competition.
“We want all National Olympic Committees to get into the spirit of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou this September and participate in our promotional campaign,” OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam said.
