MANILA, Philippines—John Gotti III has been suspended for six months by the Florida Athletic Commission for his involvement in the post-fight brawl with Floyd Mayweather Jr. at FLA Live Arena in Florida.

Mayweather and Gotti figured in an exhibition boxing match on Monday (Manila time) that ended abruptly after referee Kenny Bayless waived off the bout in the sixth round with both sides continuing to engage in trash talking.

“The DBPR Florida Athletic Commission took immediate action the evening of Sunday, June 11, and suspended John Gotti III for six months,” wrote a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, as per MMAFighting.com.

The spokesperson also said Mayweather did not receive any sanction for the incident.

Chaos followed after Gotti charged at Mayweather leading to several members from the two camps storming the ring. The incident also triggered fights outside the ring.

Gotti, grandson of a notorious New York crime boss, holds a 5-1 record in MMA and 2-0 as a pro boxer.

Unsurprisingly, Mayweather did whatever he wanted against an overmatched Gotti throughout the duration of their eight two-minute rounds exhibition.

It was Mayweather’s seventh exhibition since retiring in 2017.
