Gilas Women arrive in Australia for Fiba women’s Asia cup
MANILA, Philippines—The Gilas Pilipinas women’s team arrived in Australia on Sunday for the the Fiba Women’s Asia Cup.
The women’s basketball national team, who is coached by veteran mentor Pat Aquino, landed in Melbourne with eight days to go before the regional meet. The team posted a group photo on Facebook.

Duke University cager Vanessa De Jesus has also arrived in Australia.
Article continues after this advertisementDe Jesus formalized her commitment to the Gilas Women squad a few days ago in an online media scrum with Filipino reporters.
In said press conference, De Jesus referred to her upcoming stint with Gilas as a “dream come true.”
“It’s honestly a dream come true and I’m just waiting for the moment to go out and play with them (Gilas Women),” she said.
The Philippines will begin its Fiba run against Australia on June 26. The Gilas Girls will try their luck in Group B against the likes of Australia, Japan and Chinese Taipei.
