MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines is going all out to support Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming 2023 Fiba World Cup in Manila.
The Fiba World Cup Local Organizing Committee is offering students and teachers discounts to support the Philippine national men’s basketball team in the global competition that starts on August 25.
Students and teachers alike will have 50% off on select seats for the World Cup, including the opening ceremony and games at Philippine Arena.
“On behalf of CHED, I invite our teachers and students of all levels to watch the Fiba Basketball World Cup 2023 that will happen at Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, this coming August 25 to September 2,” the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Chairman Popoy De Vera said in Filipino.
“Together, let’s support the Filipino athletes in the upcoming World Cup! Together, let’s scream, ‘Puso para sa Bayan!’”
Seats that can be availed with the discount are Premium Upper Box, Regular Upper Box and General Admission in all three arenas (MOA Arena and Araneta Coliseum included).
In order to avail of the discount, students and teachers should present a school ID for students and PRC ID for teachers at any TicketNet or SM Ticket outlets.
On Wednesday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. suspended public school classes and government work in Metro Manila and Bulacan on August 25 to give way to the World Cup opening.
