The Fiba World Cup unfurls on August 25 in three cities in Asia with the Philippines serving as the main host of this year’s biggest basketball event.
Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City and Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City are the main venues for the 16 teams playing in the Philippines.
Group A: Philippines, Dominican Republic, Italy
Group B: Serbia, China, South Sudan, Puerto Rico
Group C: USA, Greece, New Zealand, Jordan
Group D: Egypt, Mexico, Montenegro, Lithuania
The 55,000-seater Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, meanwhile, hosts the opening day doubleheader in Group A in an effort to set a World Cup attendance record.
The first round of the group phase is from August 25 to 30; the second round/classification from August 31 to September 3; and the final phase begins on September 5 starting with the quarterfinal with the Final set for September 10.
The daily order of games for the second round of the group phase and the classification round will be determined at the end of the first round.
