Volleyball star EJ Laure gets engaged to Bugoy Cariño

MANILA, Philippines — Volleyball star EJ Laure is now engaged to longtime partner Bugoy Cariño.

The child actor-turned-influencer knelt on one knee to propose on his 21st birthday celebration and got a sweet yes from the 26-year-old outside spiker.

“I just want to tell everyone who is here that I will marry this woman,” said Cariño in Filipino during his proposal video posted by his friends.

“I will love this woman until the end.”

Laure is currently playing for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

In 2020, Laure and Cariño revealed to the public that they already have a daughter, Scarlet, through the volleyball player’s appreciation post for the latter during his 18th birthday.

Laure missed the volleyball action for two years, claiming she had a shoulder injury that caused her absence for two UAAP seasons for the University of Santo Tomas in 2018 and 2019.

She returned to action in the UAAP Season 82 three years ago, which was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic after two games and decided to turn pro in the PVL when the restrictions were lifted.
