ANTIPOLO — F2 Logistics captain Aby Maraño was honored to play in her hometown Antipolo and help her team earn its first win in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

“I wanted other people to see what we have here in Antipolo and how Antipoleños warmly welcome [the PVL]. Hopefully, more Antipoleños will support the PVL,” said Maraño in Filipino after scoring seven points in their 25-20, 25-14, 25-16 win over Nxled on Tuesday at Ynares Center.

In her homecoming, Maraño showed her leadership and motivated the young and shorthanded Cargo Movers, who continued to miss Kianna Dy due to injury.

“It should start with myself given that a lot of my teammates are injured and dealing with pain. I have to double my effort in keeping myself in condition and I need to be strong always so I can motivate the younger players to be more disciplined in taking care of themselves,” said Maraño.

“I need to step up because I know that I have more energy and my body can still manage. Although at the back of my mind, it’s really stressful to have a lot of injuries [from our team]. But I will continue motivating my younger teammates to stay patient in strength and conditioning because the team needs them,” she added.

After the Cargo Movers fell short against Akari in five sets last week, the veteran middle blocker was relieved after bouncing back and building their momentum.

“We’re happy because we can form confidence and motivation from this win coming to our next games. We’re proud of the team because we’re able to find a solution from our problems in the past game that resulted in a loss,” Maraño said.

F2 Logistics, which improved to 1-1, plays another out-of-town game against the winless Galeries Tower (0-2) on Saturday in Candon, Ilocos Sur.
