PVL: May Luna leads Nxled to emotional win days after mom’s passing
MANILA, Philippines — A grieving May Luna led Nxled to victory past Akari, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-16, in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Luna decided to play despite losing her mother over the weekend and poured in a team-high 14 points including the game-clinching hit, which ended the Chameleons’ five-game losing skid.
PVL: Gerflor players got partial payment, says coach
MANILA, Philippines — Gerflor coach Sammy Acaylar bared that his players already received the partial payment for their delayed salaries with the management promising to provide the remaining amount within the week as ordered by the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
“Last Saturday, we had practice and there were managers, who came and explained the situation to us,” said Acaylar in Filipino after their 17-25, 17-25, 15-25 loss to Farm Fresh in the second All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“They negotiated to give the partial payment for the players, not the coaches, this week. And then, they will give the full salary [within] this week. I told the players to give them a chance and let them look for ways to pay them. My players agreed and will continue to play their game,” he added.

Scoring ace Rondina focuses on ‘boring’ skills
Everyone marvels at the scoring prowess of Sisi Rondina for Choco Mucho in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
Everyone, except Sisi Rondina, who would much rather focus and improve on the “boring” skills.
“Our first game against Creamline, I admit that I am the first one to get lost, especially in the receiving,” Rondina said after the Flying Titans triumphed over Akari, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19, on Saturday at PhilSports Arena. “I don’t care about my points. What I am looking for are my digs and reception because I have been overloading on that every day.”
