MANILA, Philippines — Francis Lopez will be a game-time decision for University of the Philippines in Finals Game 2 due to flu, according to coach Goldwin Monteverde.

Hours before their game on Sunday, Monteverde bared that UAAP Season 86 Rookie of the Year status is uncertain as they prioritize his health when the Fighting Maroons try to sweep the De La Salle Green Archers in the series and reclaim the championship at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“Francis will be a game-time decision for Game 2. We’re prioritizing his health and hoping for a speedy recovery as he deals with flu,” said the UP coach.

Lopez was instrumental in their blowout 97-67 win in Game 1, tallying 15 points and 11 rebounds to put UP a win closer to winning the Season 86 trophy.

As Lopez deals with flu, Monteverde vows that the Fighting Maroons will continue to leave everything on the floor, eyeing their second championship in three seasons.

“Active or inactive, UP will fight with all that we have,” he said.

Lopez will also receive the top rookie award before Game 2, which is set at 4 p.m.
