Jamil Wilson, Converge’s new import, believes in the importance of chemistry if they want to succeed in the PBA Commissioner’s cup.

And the FiberXers showed they’re on the right path on Wednesday night after pulling out a 103-94 overtime victory over Terrafirma that snapped a six-game losing streak of the FiberXers at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

“Chemistry is the biggest thing in basketball or sports in general. When I got here I’ve been here for maybe 2-1/2 days and I didn’t even know half of these guys’ names,” Wilson said after leading Converge with 32 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

“Just having a week under my belt for practice, like I said before, getting to know these guys, what they like to do makes all the world of difference. And you can tell tonight how comfortable we were with certain things we did and how much confidence guys played with.”

Terrafirma led for the majority of the first half behind Juami Tiongson’s 10 points, before Converge found some rhythm thanks to Wilson.

The Dyip, who said on Tuesday that they didn’t want to be the first team to lose to the FiberXers, sank to 2-5 (win-loss).

‘Still disappointed’

But coach Aldin Ayo is still far from celebrating the win, not with a tough stretch they will navigate.

“It was tough, everybody was disappointed. Everybody was getting frustrated because of the result of our past games,” Ayo said of the six-game slide. “But we just continued preparing, we just continued practicing hard.

“(We are) still 1-6, so in a way, we are still disappointed, frustrated,” he added. “We still don’t feel better overall, despite this win, and we will not stop. There’s hope. We have to continue improving and building this team.”
