MANILA, Philippines — Jema Galanza, who was part of Creamline’s three perfect Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-FIlipino Conference title runs, believes the recent one over sister team Choco Mucho was the toughest and sweetest triumph.

In a 12-team field—the biggest PVL yet–Creamline remained invincible after sweeping all its 15 games capped by a thrilling 22-25, 25-20, 29-27, 24-26, 15-12 win over Choco Mucho in Game 2 of the finals that was witnessed by a record-breaking 24,459 crowd at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

MANILA, Philippines — Choco Mucho may have fallen short in its first-ever Premier Volleyball League appearance in the championship round, but Maddie Madayag believes their breakthrough finals against Creamline only shows that the best is yet to come for the Flying Titans.

The Flying Titans, led by Sisi Rondina’s finals record 33 points in Game 2, pushed the Cool Smashers to their limits but only to absorb a heartbreaking 25-22, 20-25, 27-29, 26-24, 12-15 loss in front of a record-breaking 24,459 fans at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

Dante Alinsunurin says grueling week worth it despite PVL Finals loss

MANILA, Philippines — Coach Dante Alinsunurin had the busiest and most grueling week of his career after coaching three straight finals games in as many days.

Alinsunurin called the shots for Choco Mucho in Games 1 and 2 of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference and for National University-Sta. Elena in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference.

But it was all worth it for Alinsunurin after seeing his teams thrive on the biggest stage of men’s and women’s volleyball. Sta. Elena pulled off an amazing come-from-behind 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 15-8 victory to snap Cignal’s 25-game winning streak and rule the inaugural Invitational Conference Final on Friday evening at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Sisi Rondina, despite finals loss, shows why she’s PVL MVP

MANILA, Philippines — More than emerging as Choco Mucho’s first Premier Volleyball League (PVL) MVP,  Sisi Rondina spelled the difference in the Flying Titans’ season as her leadership, scoring prowess, and infectious optimism led them to an All-Filipino Conference to remember.

Rondina left everything on the floor, pouring in 33 points — the most points scored by a local in the PVL Finals — but it wasn’t enough as Choco Mucho failed to extend the series against the Creamline Cool Smashers in Game 2, 25-22, 20-25, 27-29, 26-24, 12-15, at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

But the high-flying outside spiker still got her flowers for a stellar season-ending conference, raising the MVP trophy before a record-breaking 24,459 crowd at the Big Dome.

Valdez, fondly called by her teammates as “clutch queen,” may have struggled in the early parts of Game 2 but she delivered when it mattered most, scoring five of her eight points in the fifth set including the championship-clinching crosscourt spike to complete Creamline’s 22-25, 25-20, 29-27, 24-26, 15-12 triumph over sister team Choco Mucho.

There will be no let-up for Creamline in chasing down a second Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference title this season. There’s too much blood in the water that the Cool Smashers are smelling at the moment.

After going through four rigorous sets on Thursday to take the best-of-three series lead, the Cool Smashers are on the verge of another perfect campaign, a seventh PVL crown, and probably the most important motivation for them: keeping their mastery of their sister team and fellow glamour squad Choco Mucho.

“Every point counts,” skipper and team leader Alyssa Valdez said after a 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 25-22 Game 1 win at Mall of Asia Arena, as she and the rest of the Cool Smashers know the fight they are in and knowing that they cannot give the Flying Titans the room to bounce back.

MANILA, Philippines — From playing together at Adamson and steering the Philippine men’s volleyball team as coaches to a historic Southeast Asian Games silver medal four years ago, Sherwin Meneses and Dante Alinsunurin fight for the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference supremacy in the first-ever Creamline-Choco Mucho Finals series.

Meneses has emerged as one of the most successful coaches in the PVL as Creamline eyes its third straight All-Filipino, while Alinsunurin continues to bring his success in men’s division to the women’s pro league after steering Choco Mucho to its first-ever Finals appearance.

MANILA, Philippines — Despite losing to Creamline in Finals Game 1, Maddie Madayag’s rock-solid blocking proved to be a silver lining for Choco Mucho as it seeks to force a decider in their best-of-three series in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference.

Madayag left everything on the floor as she tallied a game-high seven blocks to finish with 18 points only for the Flying Titans to fall short against the ‘three-peat’-seeking Cool Smashers, 23-25, 25-19, 24-26, 22-25, in their series opener on Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.

“For me, I just did my job and what I can contribute inside the court. Whoever scores for us or whatever, it’s our job. I didn’t really think about how many points or blocks I had. I embraced the role given to me,” said Madayag in Filipino after losing in their PVL finals debut.

MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Valdez and the Creamline Cool Smashers continue to bank on their familiarity and coach Sherwin Meneses’ system against the hard-fighting Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference Finals.

Choco Mucho may be a first-timer in the PVL finals but Valdez said that their sister team, bannered by former UAAP stars Sisi Rondina and Maddie Madayag, pushed them to their limits in Game 1 before they  pulled off a hard-earned 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 25-22 victory on Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.

MANILA, Philippines — Jema Galanza relished playing with younger sister Mafe in Creamline’s title-retention bid in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference finals.

Jema, who has been at the forefront of Creamline’s offense this conference, was thrilled to see her sister’s composure on the biggest stage as a backup setter for Kyle Negrito in the Cool Smashers’ 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 25-22 win over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in Game 1 of the best-of-three Finals on Thursday evening at Mall of Asia Arena.

“I’m so happy and amazed with all her sets. She is also calm inside the court even though this is her first time to play in the PVL and it’s the Finals,” said the star outside spiker in Filipino after scoring 16 points in Game 1.
