MANILA, Philippines — Shiela Kiseo has signed with the PLDT High Speed Hitters, starting her professional career in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season in February.

PLDT on Saturday welcomed Kiseo, the former Far Eastern University captain.

Kiseo, who played three seasons with FEU, is excited to play and learn from the intact High Speed Hitters, who recently signed former F2 Logistics trio Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron, and Kim Fajardo.

“Sa simula parang di ako makapaniwala kasi mga kasama ko panay volleyball legends tapos ngayon kasama ko na sila maglaro.

Pero hindi pwede matagal ako ma-starstruck kasi kailangan ko ma-absorb lahat ng lessons napwede ko matutunan dahil napaka-rare po ng pagkakataon na ito,” she said in a statement posted by PLDT.

(At first, I couldn’t believe it because I’m with volleyball legends and I’m going to play alongside them. But I can’t be starstruck for long because I need to learn from them and make the most out of this rare opportunity.)

The 23-year-old Kiseo, who can play as spiker and libero, is also teaming up with Filipino-Canadian hitter Savannah Davison, setter Rhea Dimaculangan, middle blockers Mika Reyes and Dell Palomata as well as libero Kath Arado.

“Dapat po ako magfocus and work harder sa skills at experience kasi ako po yung pinakabata sa kanila ngayon. Doon po ako sasabay sa enthusiasm kasi marami po ako nun,” Kiseo said.

(I need to focus and work harder to improve my skills and experience because I’m the youngest on the team. What I can also bring to the team is my enthusiasm which I have a lot of.)

Kiseo was part of the Lady Tamaraws rise from a one-win Season 84 to falling short of a spot to the Final Four in Season 85, where they finished with a 6-8 record in coach Tina Salak’s first season.

PLDT reached the semifinals in the first two conferences of the 2023 season but missed the second All-Filipino Final Four after finishing with a 7-4 card.
