PVL newcomer Capital1 holds tryouts

/ 04:05 AM January 23, 2024

Capital1 Solar Energy, determined to make heads turn in the coming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) as a rookie team, will hold a two-day tryout under veteran coach Roger Gorayeb at San Sebastian College-Recoletos gym starting on Tuesday.

Close to 100 players from various clubs, colleges and universities have sent their intents to join the tryouts, as Capital1 becomes the newest PVL member.

Owners Milka and Mandy Romero, daughters of port magnate Mikee Romero, are already thrilled at their initial foray in the sporting world, although both are resigned to the idea that they have to go through the proverbial eye of the needle before beating the league giants.

Milka was a former cocaptain of the Ateneo football team while Mandy, who graduated Magna Cum Laude at Georgetown University, is a Muay Thai practitioner.

The next PVL season starts next month with Creamline expected to have a tougher time after most of the other contenders have beefed up after the disbandment of F2 Logistics.
