MANILA, Philippines—University of the East’s Rey Remogat aired his grievances on rumors surrounding his future after UAAP Season 86.
Despite missing out on the Final Four, Remogat had a fruitful run with the Red Warriors, making a name for himself in the tournament with a Mythical Five selection.
But right after his tremendous season, rumors swirled that Remogat was leaving the Red Warriors’ den for greener pastures.
The shifty guard confirmed that there are, indeed, offers for him to play elsewhere, Remogat said he would’ve wanted the news to come from him.
“I hope they don’t talk ahead of me. I hope they know learn to ask me, or wait for my decision because it’s disrespectful. It also hurts because they’re putting me in a bad light. What if I’m actually staying?” said Remogat in Filipino while watching the PBA at Araneta Coliseum on Friday.
But the Season 86 mythical team member did clarify that he will announce the decision, himself, next week.
“My final decision will be announced next week. Maybe I’ll announce the decision myself.”
Rey Remogat blasts rumor spreaders.
“Sana wag nila pangunahan. Sana matuto sila magtanong, hintayin ‘yong decision para sa part namin kasi parang nakakadisrespect. Masakit din para sa’kin na pag-iisipan ako ng masama. E, pa’no kung nagstay pa ‘ko?” | @MeloFuertesINQ pic.twitter.com/FfOfnnOMzR

Remogat revealed that he’s stuck at a crossroads with three possible paths: go professional overseas, stay with UE, or move to another school.
He said that his decision is bred from personal reasons.
“I’ll either turn pro, stay [in UE] or in another school. It’s because of the situation within my family. I need to decide not just for me but also for my family.”
“The reason’s personal. The UE management understands it. When I talked to them on Tuesday, they asked me about my plans. They said that whatever I’m planning, they will support it.”
Remogat earned his popularity last season after posting norms of 16.5 points, 7.8 assists, 6.3 rebounds and two steals per game.
