MANILA, Philippines — Ara Galang repaid Chery Tiggo’s trust with an impressive Crossovers debut in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday.

Galang delivered the goods for Chery Tiggo with 12 points built on nine attacks, two aces, and a block to jumpstart their campaign with a dominant 25-6, 25-15, 25-15 win over the debuting Capital1 at Philsports Arena.

The veteran outside spiker wanted to prove her worth to the team that gave her a second chance after F2 Logistics’ disbandment.

“My mindset when Chery Tiggo and coach KungFu (Reyes) signed me was they were interested in me so I have the potential to help this team,” said Galang in Filipino

“That’s what I held on to. They trusted me so I will do my job to show that I can live up to their expectations and deliver good results for Chery Tiggo.”

Galang, the former UAAP MVP out of La Salle, who transferred to the Crossovers with Aby Maraño, credited her easy transition with her new teammates composed of Mylene Paat, Eya Laure, Shaya Adorador, Cza Carandang, Joyme Cagande, and Jennifer Nierva.

“It feels good because they’re easy to get along with. I’m excited every day to train and play with them. It’s inspiring to play when we’re together,” Galang said.

After a solid debut with Chery Tiggo, Galang stressed that they still need to polish their movements and reduce their unforced errors when they face another new team Strong Group Athletics on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“We have to be more cohesive because this is a team sport. We have to be connected individually so our movements will be smoother,” she said.
