MANILA, Philippines — Kath Arado credited the PLDT High Speed hitters’ blazing start to their newcomers in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Arado was everywhere with 29 digs and 12 excellent receptions in PLDT’s 25-17, 25-23, 25-22 over Nxled that put the team on a 2-0 start on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.

The captain libero deflected their good showing so far to her new teammates Majoy Baron and setter Kim Fajardo, who backstopped leading scorer Savi Davison.

“We’re happy because our new players are reliable and experienced. They added to our fighting spirit,” said Arado. “They’re matured players and they were able to guide us.”

The Highspeed Hitters have yet to play with a complete line-up as Dell Palomata is still getting a clearance from Air Force, while Kianna Dy is expected to return in the post-elimination as she continues to recover from her knee injury.

Players like Jessey De Leon have been filling in the shoes of the missing key members.

“Nxled is not just any team,” said the veteran libero. “They really worked hard so we studied their plays and it paid off for us.”

Arado and the Highspeed Hitters brace for their marquee match against the Petro Gazz Angels on Saturday.

“We need to get into the mindset that we’re facing Petro Gazz next. There’s no difference in general with how we prepare for others teams, but we’re going to focus on the match ups.”
