Floirendo sweeps sprint, Main GT
MANILA—Vincent Floirendo swept the third leg’s Sprint and Main GT races recently to tighten his grip of the lead in the 2011 Yokohama Philippine GT Championship Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
Waxing hot from the start, Floirendo notched the fastest lap with a time of 1:47.976 to pull away from his chasers in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
In the final race, Floirendo passed all drivers, except reigning titlist William Tan and Bobby Unson, to snare both the overall GT and GT300 crowns.
Article continues after this advertisementFloirendo wrapped up the 17-lap race in 29 minutes and 4.949 seconds, a distant 1:17.359 seconds ahead of Tan.
Arnel Carlos and his son Dwight Kevin checked in third and fourth overall, as they also wound up 1-2 in the GT200.
Alvin Ng of Ford Focus-TRS Racing checked in fifth as he topped the GT130 division over Dean Joson. Marc Peter Thomann captured the GT100 title over Efren Lavina.
