NCAA volleyball: Letran, San Sebastian end streaks

MANILA, Philippines—Letran snapped Lyceum’s six-game winning streak, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22, in the NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball tournament at San Juan Arena on Tuesday.

The Lady Knights’ victory pushed their record to 5-2 while also snapping a streak of their own and bouncing back from losses over undefeated College of St. Benilde and Mapua.

The troika of Gia Maquilang, Yen Martin and Judiel Nitura uncorked 18, 16 and 15 points, respectively to scratch the Lady Pirates’ unblemished record after seven games.

Jan Tulang registered 19 points but Lyceum still absorbed a 6-1 card in the process.

Meanwhile, San Sebastian finally earned its first win of the season following a 17-25, 25-13, 26-24, 27-25 triumph over Emilio Aguinaldo College.

Kath Santos led the cavalry for the Lady Stags as they improved to a 1-6 card thanks to her 17-point outburst. Tina Marasigan also scattered 14 points to help San Sebastian’s cause.

On the Lady Generals’ side, Cath Almazan gave her all with 20 points but it wasn’t enough to grant EAC its first win after seven games.
