UAAP releases revised schedule for remaining first round basketball games

MANILA, Philippines — The UAAP cancelled Saturday’s men’s basketball double header and decided to reschedule this and other remaining games in the first round of eliminations.

The UAAP decision came as over one million people were affected by the floods that inundated Metro Manila and several provinces in Luzon over the past two days and the Philsports Arena (formerly Ultra), one of the games’ venues, was being used as an evacuation center.

Instead, the matches originally scheduled last Wednesday will be played on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, as La Salle and Adamson, and the University of Santo Tomas and University of the East finally get their chance to face each other at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

La Salle and National University tangle in the curtain raiser at 12 noon on August 18 while top squads Far Eastern University and Ateneo clash for the no. 1 spot at 4:30 p.m. also at the Araneta.

Tickets for the game between the Tamaraws and the Blue Eagles will be sold separately.

The UST and Adamson and UE and UP games scheduled this Saturday will be held on August 19 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Araneta.

The UE vs Adamson and UP vs UST games that were postponed last July 21 were reset to August 15 at the Araneta Coliseum although ticket arrangements and refunds have yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the opening of the UAAP badminton competition Saturday will push through as scheduled at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
