TECHNOLOGICAL Institute of the Philippines (TIP) gets its title defense going against a league newcomer when Season 4 of the Interscholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) men’s basketball tournament fires off today at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
TIP battles the debuting Philippine Merchant Marine School (PMMS) at 1 p.m. to cap a triple bill in the opener of the seven-school tournament.
Barangay Ginebra star center Kerby Raymundo will serve as keynote speaker for the opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m.
“TIP and PMMS are obviously tipped as favorites to win the championship, but we expect the other schools to be competitive this season,” ISAA president Ruel dela Rosa said in the PSA Forum yesterday at Shakey’s Malate.
Manila Tytana Colleges (formerly Manila Doctors College) tangles with St. Dominic College of Asia at 10 a.m., while Feati University takes on Philippine Women’s University at 11:30 a.m.
La Consolacion College Manila completes the field of the single-round competition where the top two teams will gain an outright semifinal incentive.
