MANILA, Philippines—Aside from winning, Blackwater import George King has one more objective for the Bossing in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Blackwater hasn’t had much success since joining the PBA in 2014 which is a major reason why the franchise is one of the more unpopular teams in the league.

King wants that to change and so far, he has Blackwater heading in the right direction.

“I think so. That’s what I hope to do,” said King when asked if he could be a reason to increase Blackwater’s fanbase.

“Naturally, I let my game do the talking but I see the fans loving the ‘crown on the head’ celebration and extra stuff so I’m at home practicing little three or four-point celebrations to get more butts in seats and I think that’ll just make it all the merrier.”

King has been doing just that by leading the Bossing to a three-game winning streak since his arrival.

In Blackwater’s latest win at the expense of NLEX, King continued his torrid play with 39 points, 15 rebounds and five assists as he put on a show in front of a sizeable crowd at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

King has no plans of slowing down.

“I appreciate that they’re starting to learn me while supporting us in the team. I feel that love. I hear people in the free throw line and I appreciate it. There’s more to come,” he said.

“There’s more in me that I look to do in games moving forward so I hope to continue to play well with the fans enjoying watching me play.”
