San Miguel rolled past Phoenix on Friday night, 139-127, to extend its winning ways in the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup.

The Beermen claimed their third straight win behind the efforts of returning import Jordan Adams, the club’s original reinforcement who finished with 49 points and 11 rebounds in the triumph at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

“Most important is we got the win. I just went out there and played hard and tried to get the win for my teammates,” the 30-year-old NBA veteran, who came back after San Miguel’s experiment with Sheldon Mac didn’t pan out.

Adams was the first player to drop 50 points in the conference, helping San Miguel past Blackwater for their second victory last Aug. 25.

“Got to keep winning, that’s all that matters here,” Adams said when asked if his performance was a validation of sorts.

CJ Perez and June Mar Fajardo had at least 22 points each, while Marcio Lassiter finished with 16 built on five three-pointers as he moved three triples away from eclipsing Jimmy Alapag’s all-time record.

San Miguel thus improved to 5-2, just behind Rain or Shine in the Group B race of the showcase.

Import Brandone Francis had 48 points, while Jason Perkins , Raul Soyud and Ricci Rivero all finished with double-digit scores in the losing effort that kept the Fuel Masters winless in seven meetings.

San Miguel will try to make it four straight against sister team Barangay Ginebra. Lassiter could also become the new king of the elite shooting club on that Sunday at the same venue.
