MANILA, Philippines—Alec Stockton has grown into one of the Converge FiberXers’ most reliable bucket-getters.
His growing confidence was evident in the FiberXers’ latest win over Meralco in Group A of the PBA Governors’ Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Wednesday.
Converge was stuck in a neck-and-neck affair with the Bolts in the waning minutes of the game and when the FiberXers needed a bucket–enter Stockton.
In the final two minutes, Stockton fired five points–a step-back triple and a fadeaway jumper from midrange–which ultimately gave Converge the 105-97 win over quarterfinals-bound Meralco in a thrilling affair.

Stockton hounded Banchero on defense, even coming face-to-face with him in intense moments as the Meralco guard only tallied 10 points, missing nine shots out of 14 attempts.
Despite his numerous bumps and altercations, Stockton stayed composed under duress and sank big shots in the clutch to send Converge to a 5-4 card.
“I think the magic just comes from the work and daily repetitions I do,” Stockton said. “When it comes game time it’s just like playing in the park, I’m just having fun out there.”
