MANILA, Philippines–PBA player John Amores is said to have been involved in a shooting incident after taking part in a basketball game in his home province of Laguna.

Reports bared that Amores had a heated argument with a male individual in the town of Lumban, triggering the incident that was caught on CCTV and later uploaded on social media.

Multiple accounts from other outlets also described that authorities are on a “dragnet operation” to find Amores.

In a GMA News report on Thursday, Amores and his brother had surrendered to the Lumban Municipal Police Station.

Police Major Bob Louis Ordiz of Lumbas MPS said Amores and his brother turned themselves in because of “threats” to their life.

It comes two years since Amores ran amok as a player for Jose Rizal University in the NCAA during a game against College of St. Benilde.

Despite his eventual ban from the collegiate league, Amores was given a second chance with NorthPort selecting him in the fifth round of the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft.

But the latest controversy may put Amores’ PBA career in jeopardy.
