MANILA, Philippines—In dire need of a win, losing a fifth consecutive time was not an option for Phoenix on Tuesday.
As the Fuel Masters’ most seasoned veteran, RJ Jazul knew he had to do something about it.
“After four games, I think we learned our lesson,” said Jazul.

“We really needed that win, whatever thing we can do or what I can do to help, I had to do it, we can’t go 0-5.”
Jazul came off the bench and gave Phoenix a big lift in toppling erstwhile unbeaten NorthPort, 115-109, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The 38-year-old Jazul, who is in his 14th season in the league, turned back the clock and finished with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, including three triples, and five assists.
His efforts certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

“You just have to give credit to the players, especially to the veterans like the one on my left, Jazul,” said Phoenix coach Jamike Jarin, whose squad drew a game-high 32 points from Donovan Smith and 24 from Jason Perkins.
“Finally, we got this win. This is big. We really need to climb back. We’re 1-4 right now and we need to work hard to get our next win on Thursday.”
