MANILA, Philippines—Ginebra isn’t rushing Jamie Malonzo to be back in action despite his clearance to play again for the Gin Kings.

Malonzo remained on the sidelines on Sunday as the Gin Kings dominated the San Miguel Beermen, 93-81, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Araneta Coliseum.

MANILA, Philippines–Troy Rosario put together his best scoring performance since joining Barangay Ginebra to spark a 93-81 rout of San Miguel Beer to cap off the resumption of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Rosario finished with 22 points on top of 10 rebounds as the Gin Kings produced another win against fellow San Miguel Corporation squad to go 5-2 going into a marquee showdown with the pacesetter NorthPort Batang Pier.

MANILA, Philippines—Meralco import Akil Mitchell made sure to enter the new year completely opposite to how the Bolts ended the last.

Coming off a Christmas beating at the hands of Converge, which dealt them their worst loss of the conference, 110-94, the Bolts started the year right with an 88-83 win over Hong Kong Eastern at the resumption of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines–Meralco arrested a two-game skid after holding off guest team Hong Kong Eastern, 88-83, in the resumption of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Import Akil Mitchell, still wearing a face mask to protect his broken nose, put up 31 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and seven assists as the Bolts improved to 4-2 following defeats to the Blackwater Bossing and Phoenix Fuel Masters to end 2024.

The long-awaited return of Jamie Malonzo could provide a new dynamic for Barangay Ginebra as it looks for the right mix for the rest of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup—and the year—beginning with Sunday’s marquee encounter with San Miguel Beer at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Malonzo was placed on the active roster ahead of the 7:30 p.m. contest but could be playing managed minutes if coach Tim Cone decides to play the athletic forward, who hasn’t seen action since April because of a calf injury.
