MANILA, Philippines —Instead of dwelling on the departure of their stars Ces Molina and Ria Meneses, the Cignal HD Spikers is choosing to focus all their energy on their 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign.

The depleted Cignal opened the post-Molina and Meneses with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-19 sweep of Galeries Tower to improve to a 5-1 record on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.

Coach Shaq Delos Santos shared that he prepared for the worst possible scenario in case Molina and Meneses departed the team. The two decided not to renew their contracts that expired at the end of the year and never responded to extension offers that came as early as October.

PVL: Without any excess baggage, High Speed Hitters are moving on well

Rald Ricafort

Months after a controversial loss that denied PLDT a chance to make the finals, the High Speed Hitters dealt Akari a bloodbath in their return meeting.

And the key to that as far as the High Speed Hitters were concerned was putting the past behind.

“We didn’t really put a lot of attention to that because that’s excess baggage,” coach Rald Ricafort told the Inquirer in Filipino after never giving the Chargers a chance on Sunday night, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15. “We wouldn’t have been able to focus [if we dwell on the past] so it’s better that we didn’t bring that to this game.”
