Adamson returned to its winning ways after making quick work of University of the East, 25-20, 25-15, 25-12, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Shaina Nitura boosted the Soaring Falcons to an improved 2-1 win-loss standing with 18 points from 16 attacks, a block and an ace apart from 11 excellent digs.

Frances Mordi backstopped the rising rookie with 11 points as Fhei Sagaysay dished out 15 excellent sets.

“I always remind them that everything starts in training. We need to work on our lapses there so that applying it in the game becomes easier,” said coach JP Yude, as Adamson bounced back from a straight-sets loss to La Salle.

“We have to go through losses because we won’t learn if we don’t face challenges like that,” Nitura said.

It was even more evident in the final frame with Adamson taking the breath out of UE at 15-4. Nitura was relentless and, even in front of a double block, gave Adamson an 18-8 advantage.

Red Bascon also became a problem for the Lady Warriors and with cross-court kills helped the Falcons to a 20-9 lead.

A couple of unsuccessful challenges pushed Adamson to match point before a Barbie Jamili kill was stopped by UE which she immediately got back in the next play by nailing an off speed attack to secure the win.

Two Lady Warriors still stood out in the losing stand with Nessa Bangayan contributing 11 points, all but one from kills, and Khy Cepada adding 10 points.

But those efforts were not enough to stop UE from absorbing a third straight defeat in as many games including losses to University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas.
