MANILA, Philippines — Eager to leave a legacy, veteran setter Chie Saet helped revive Petro Gazz Angels’ title bid in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after losing Game 1 to ZUS Coffee in their best-of-three quarterfinals.
Saet was the difference-maker as started in Game 2 and delivered the goods in the rubber match to help Petro Gazz catch the last bus ride to the semifinals with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 win over ZUS Coffee on Tuesday evening at Philsports Arena.
With their season on the line, the 40-year-old playmaker dished out 20 excellent sets and scored five points including two aces as the Angels joined defending champion Creamline, Choco Mucho, and Akari in another round-robin, where the top two advance to the finals.

MANILA, Philippines — Brooke Van Sickle and the Petro Gazz Angels are bringing their biggest lesson from a hard-fought series with ZUS Coffee heading ito the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals.
Petro Gazz needed to learn the hard way after losing Game 1 and falling to the brink of elimination, but Van Sickle willed them back to a series comeback with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 win in Game 3 to catch the last bus ride to the semis on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.
Van Sickle, who had 24 points in the rubber match, stressed they couldn’t afford to commit the same mistakes in the semifinals round-robin with defending champion Creamline, Choco Mucho, and Akari.

Petro Gazz stayed calm throughout and effectively tore down feisty ZUS Coffee, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23, to secure the last semifinal spot in the PVL All Filipino Conference on Tuesday.
Brooke Van Sickle dismantled the unyielding defensive wall of the enemy by smacking the Thunderbelles with 24 hits as the Angels completed their resurgence following a harrowing defeat in the opener of their quarterfinal series.
“It’s hard playing them (Thunderbelles), but our hunger to be in the semifinals definitely transitioned today. We came out with more energy and challenged ourselves,’’ said Van Sickle.

PVL: Petro Gazz win sets stage for thrilling decider
Petro Gazz star Brooke Van Sickle has so much respect for ZUS Coffee that she feels it will take nothing less than an all-out grind for her team to seize a winner-take-all triumph.
“It’s going to be a push. It’s going to be high intensity, so we need a 100-percent effort from everyone,” said Van Sickle after the Angels evaded a quarterfinal exit on Saturday in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Angels refused to be blown out of the sky by the Thunderbelles and stretched their best-of-three affair to the limit with a 25-19, 25-13, 28-26 triumph on Saturday at Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
