MANILA, Philippines —With another shot at the elusive PVL All-Filipino Conference title, Chie Saet vows to leave everything on the court for the Petro Gazz Angels.

A the pioneer player for Petro Gazz since 2018, Saet is determined to help Angels finally break through in the All-Filipino after three missed chance in 2019, 2022, and 2023.

Now in their fourth try, the 40-year-old setter hopes to prove that the two-time Reinforced Conference champions can win an All-Filipino title too.

“With an All-Filipino lineup, the expectations are higher. So this time, we’ll do our absolute best. As Coach Koji (Tsuzurabara) said, we’re entering the Finals giving 200 percent,” said Saet in Filipino after tossing 12 excellent sets in the  25-22, 25-20, 25-18 win over Akari on Thursday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Already a grandmother and in the twilight of her career, Saet knows how precious this opportunity is—and she’s determined to make the most of it.

“I’m really happy because all of us teams here in the PVL are dreaming of becoming champions. And now, here we are. We worked hard for this, and we were lucky to make it. So, we’ll make sure to finish strong and do our best,” she said.

Saet has been game-changer for Petro Gazz since losing Game 1 of the quarterfinals to ZUS Coffee. With her in starting line-up, the Angels won five games in a row including a three-game semis sweep to end a two-year finals drought.

Now heading into their sixth finals appearance, Saet is focused on maximizing the Angels’ deep roster, led by the lethal duo of Brooke Van Sickle and Myla Pablo.

“I still have the mindset of making sure the ball is distributed well to the spikers, from receive to set, and then the attack. We’re all focused on playing our best. Like Coach said, we’re giving 200 percent entering the Finals,” she said.
