For a team that has its share of teenagers and standouts from four different countries, Makati FC (MFC) sure has done a good job coming together to get things done on the field.

The MFC booters blanked University of the Philippines, 5-0, as they’re trying to build chemistry on the move in the hopes of challenging the league’s resident heavyweights in the 2025 PFF Women’s League.

Indonesian standout Sheva Furyzcha and striker Angely Alferez each had a brace for the debutantes, which is using the early phase of the tournament to forge much-needed teamwork.

“We need more chemistry,” said Alferez. “We need to focus on one game, one step at a time. We will get there if we want to.”

Aside from the Philippines and Indonesia, MFC also has in its roster players from Ghana and Thailand.

“I’m delighted [with our performance] because the team is starting to play cohesively,” Alferez said. “In a short period of time, we managed to understand each other on the pitch. The coaches are happy and we are happy.”

The win was big for MFC, which also drew attention just two minutes into the match when 14-year-old Rhiauna de la Calzada, who comes from Cebu, scored the match’s first goal at Mall of Asia Arena Football Pitch.

Alferez added another goal in the 29th minute and ended the match with another goal in extra time.

“I wasn’t really thinking about the time. I just have the mentality of a striker and I just wanted to give my all,” she said.
