MANILA, Philippines—Adamson star Shaina Nitura was obviously still processing what she had just accomplished after the Lady Falcons’ win over Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.

The record-breaking rookie was at it again on Saturday, reaching another milestone by scoring the most points in a single season in a 14-25, 29-27, 25-22, 25-22 victory.

“I want to thank the Lord because after all the patience that we gave in our past games, our hardships are now being repaid,” said Nitura after dropping 37 points.

“My teammates also fought hard for this. They really wanted to win even if we didn’t have any chances for a Final Four spot.”

Nitura bumped her season point total to 314, two more than the previous record once held by Alyssa Valdez back in Season 77 for the Ateneo Blue Eagles.

Making Nitura’s feat more impressive is that she did it with two games to spare.

“If I would reflect on what we all went through for the growth of this team, I’m happy and grateful because this is such a huge step for us for the coming seasons,” said Nitura, who also owns the record for most points scored in a UAAP women’s volleyball game at 38.
