Unrelenting Shane Van Boening of the United States overpowered the Philippines’ Dennis Orcollo, 13-7, to bag the 37th US Open 9-Ball championship on Saturday (Sunday morning in Manila) at Norfolk Convention Center in Virginia.

The victory capped an undefeated run for the hearing-impaired Van Boening, the top American player, who bagged the $25,000 champion’s prize.

Orcollo settled for $15,000 after coming from the loser’s bracket to make the title match.
