Ducati PH peerless in bike finale

TEAM Ducati Philippines established a dominance of sorts by bagging 19 trophies in the Motorcycle Road Racing season finale recently at Clark International Speedway.

Team owner Toti Alberto and Marvin Mangulabnan both won championships to lead the Ducati charge  while John Marcelo, John Defensor and Vinz Merc bagged big wins in their divisions to reassert Ducati’s domination in two-wheel racing.

Ducati also paved the way for the comeback of multi-titled champion Glenn Aguilar, who showed no rust despite his long hiatus from racing.

Aguilar humbled the present crop of top guns in the Superbikes Open as he led Mangulabnan in a 1-2 finish.

Alberto won the Overall Masters Class Champion for the 2012 National Superbike Race Championship and copped runner-up finishes in the Masters Class and Overall divisions of the Ducati Cup in the final leg.

Mangulabnan triumphed in both the Superbikes Novice and Intermediate Final races to clinch the overall runner-up crown of both classes. Marcelo ruled the Naked Class of the Ducati Cup and was K58 Class C Champion.

John Defensor captured the Ducati Cup Masters Class and Overall plums for the day both over Toti Alberto and Charles Nolasco. Vinz Merc claimed the Ducati Cup Superbike Novice crown.

“A lot of bikes can be made fast or even set-up faster than a Ducati,” said Alberto. “But Ducati stock bikes were engineered naturally fast.”
