MANILA, Philippines—Adamson blew Jose Rizal University out of the water, 79-54, Friday in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Sweet 16 round at the FAITH gym in Tanauan, Batangas.

After coming out sluggish, the Falcons used a solid third-quarter assault to seal their plans of advancing to the next round of the tournament.

The Falcons started firing on all cylinders while the Bombers continued firing blanks in the third quarter, which made for a lopsided output, 26-4.

They led by as huge as 27 points late in the fourth, when the outcome of the game had already been decided.

Jansen Rios paced Adamson, which is still undefeated since the start of the Metro Manila qualifiers, with 15 points and seven rebounds.

It seemed like the Bombers, meanwhile, ran out of gas toward the end, coming off a grueling double overtime win over University of the East.

Byron Villiarias, who exploded for 35 points on Thursday, went scoreless and with no rebounds.

Adamson, which had to go through a three-day qualifier to advance to the knockout phase, faces La Finns Scholastica Saturday at 2 p.m. at the same venue.

The Lionhearts of La Union, which ruled the North and Central Luzon zone, rallied in the fourth to stun University of Batangas, 89-86, earlier.

Jonathan Greychoa sparked La Finns’ rally, then sealed the win with crucial free throws to finish with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
