JUVIC Pagunsan shot a two-under 68 to move to even par for the tournament yesterday in the UBS Hong Kong Open Championship, which New Zealand’s Mike Campbell led at the halfway mark.
Campbell shot a 64 to move to to 9 under for the tournament and take a one-shot lead over Zhang Lianwei (66), Fredrik Andersson Hed (66) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (67).
Pagunsan birdied holes No. 1 and No. 2 and added another one at No. 6 but was slowed by three straight bogeys before the turn. He gunned down to more birds at the back for his 2-under card for the day.
Antonio Lascuña had a second straight 1-over 71, but it was good enough to ensure two more playing days for the Filipino. Lascuña’s 2-over total for the tournament made him the last player to make the cut at Hong Kong Golf Club.
Elmer Salvador also shot a 71 but missed the cut with his 5-over total, three shots off the cut line. Mars Pucay also missed the cut after an even 70. Salvador and Pucay shared a 5-over total with World No. 1 Rory McIlroy, who shot a 72 in the second round.
Angelo Que shot a 75 for a 6-over total while Miguel Tabuena coughed up a 74 for a 7-over aggregate that sent them packing. Tabuena was tied with veteran star John Daly, who shot a 75 in the second round.
