Talk ’N Text rallies to defeat Ginebra

MANILA, Philippines—Jayson Castro scored 24 points as Talk ‘N Text came back to beat Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 87-80, Sunday night in the 38th PBA Philippine Cup at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Castro unleashed 14 points in the second half as the Tropang Texters, the number one team heading into the playoffs, erased a 17-point deficit.

“There’s no such thing as a non-bearing game. We wanted to win. My players just hung in there and we got some stops down the stretch, said TNT head coach Norman Black, whose team plays eighth seed Air21 in a best-of-three quarterfinals series.

Ali Peek also had a great game with 16 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks.

Kelly Williams added 13 points and 11 rebounds while Larry Fonacier chipped in 11, including a big three that made it 86-79, with 2:06 left.

“The win was more about pride more than anything else and the fact that we may see them down the road,” added Black.
