Lascuña, Que hot ICTSI Wack Wack C’ship faves

ORDER of Merit leader Tony Lascuña and former Philippine Open champion Angelo Que will be the wise-money picks when the P2.5-million ICTSI Wack Wack Championship fires off tomorrow at the Mandaluyong venue’s East course.

Lascuña and Que finished in a five-way tie for fifth place in the weather-shortened Iskandar Johor Open at the Horizon Hills course in Johor Bahru, Malaysia last Sunday.

Lascuña closed out with a 69 while Que fired a 68 for similar 11-under-par 205s in the $2-million event, the concluding leg of this year’s Asian Tour, won by Sergio Garcia.

Lascuña and Que each took home $60,440 (about P2.4 million), their solid finish putting them in good stead as they head to the local tour’s closing leg at Wack Wack’s East Course.

Lascuña is not only eyeing the top P450,000 purse in the 72-hole event organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. but also the coveted Order of Merit crown.

Lascuña has racked up P1,797,640 in earnings on the strength of two victories in 10 legs.

Elmer Salvador is in second place with P1,365,160 and needs no less than a win and a finish outside of the top five by Lascuña to regain the OOM title he won in 2009.

The pros test the tough layout in today’s pro-am tournament as they team up with officials and guests of the event’s chief backers Empire Golf, Titleist, Footjoy, Callaway, TaylorMade, Mizuno, Srixon, Nike Golf, Custom Clubmakers and Sharp. Steve Silva, Contributor
