PSC wants early NSA budget proposals
MANILA—The Philippine Sports Commission yesterday urged the various national sports associations under the Philippine Olympic Committee to submit their budget requirements for their programs next year. PSC chair Ritchie Garcia said the NSAs’ financial proposals would give the agency an idea of the exact amount of funding needed, subject to the approval of the PSC board and a committee formed by the POC.
Once approved, the PSC will earmark a fixed budget which the NSAs will spend for the identification, training and foreign exposures of their athletes. The budget that will come from the national sports development fund (NSDF) will also be used for the purchase of equipment and other plans. “We’re giving them (NSA leaders) three months to plan their programs for next year and to submit the budget requirements,” said Garcia. The NSDF comes from the allocation of the PSC from other agencies such as the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Philippine Racing Commission, Bureau of Customs and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
