MANILA—Willie Miller, one of the finest all-around guards in the Philippine Basketball Association, was shipped yesterday by Barangay Ginebra to Air21 for former Slam Dunk champion KG Canaleta and a future draft right.

The 6-foot, two-time MVP will be suiting up for his fifth squad after stints with Alaska, the Gin Kings, the defunct Red Bull and Talk ‘N Text, where he won his two MVP trophies.

The deal puts an end to the struggles that Miller had had with Ginebra, where he had to share playing time with several superstar guards that include former MVP Jay-Jay Helterbrand, Mike Cortez and Mark Caguioa.

Canaleta, meanwhile, will be coming into a team that also has a lot of talent in his spot now being shared by JC Intal, Ronald Tubid and Willie Wilson.

The Express gave up their first-round pick in next year’s draft to acquire Miller, who will join former San Miguel Beermen Dondon Hontiveros, Dorian Peña and Danny Seigle as Air21’s franchise players.
