San Mateo, Woodrose gain girls’ softball semis berths

SAN MATEO National High School and Woodrose clinched semifinal berths heading into the final elimination-round schedule of the National Inter-Secondary Girls’ Softball Championships presented by Cebuana Lhuillier at Sto. Niño ballpark in Marikina.

San Mateo holds a 6-0 record with matches against lightweight squads Makati and Sta. Maria, Bulacan, left in its schedule.

Alabang-based Woodrose all but wrapped up a semifinal berth after going 7-2 in nine matches.

Sta. Maria (5-2) is also in contention along with Nueva Ecija (5-1) in the tourney also sponsored by Pera Padala, Phiten, Cebuana Lhuillier Bank, Le Soleil de Boracay, and CB Insurance Solutions.

The title game will be played today with Mayor Del de Guzman and Asaphil secretary general Danny Francisco expected to grace the awards rite. Cedelf P. Tupas
