La Carlota City hosts regional age-group tilt

THE PHILTA-Palawan regional age-group tennis tournament will stage its fourth leg in La Carlota City in Negros Occidental starting today.

Hoping to bank on the province’s rich athletic tradition, organizers of the Group 3 tourney said they expect a bumper harvest of fresh talents in each age categories.

It has been very inspiring to see more and more players join and compete in the circuit. And we expect another record field this week in Negros Occidental,” said Bobby Castro, COO of the sponsoring Palawan Pawnshop.

Guillermo Nocom, president of the circuit’s other chief backer Technosports, exclusive distributor of Babolat, said they are committed to support Philta’s effort to discover young and raw talents who will then be developed for the national pool.

Bacolod will host the fifth leg on Feb. 14 to 18 which is the last leg of the first Visayas swing before the Olivarez-Philta Open age group, inter-collegiate and interclub tilts  reel off on March 1 to 17 at Olivarez Sports Center in  Parañaque.  Marc Anthony Reyes
