MANILA—The Philippine Olympic Committee yesterday has started a signature campaign among the national sports associations under its wing in a bid to expel athletics chief Go Teng Kok from the Olympic body.
NSA officials were asked to affix their signatures during yesterday’s general assembly to a manifesto calling for the ouster of the president of the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association from the POC.
Go apparently got the ire of high-ranking POC officials after he circulated text messages criticizing sports leaders opposed to the former ally of POC president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr.
The POC earlier declared Go “persona non grata” after the Patafa head filed court cases against Cojuangco and other executive board officials in the wake of the leadership row in karate-do which Go used to head.
“They declared me persona non grata because I asked to be given due process. Now, they want to expel me because I exposed their wrongdoing,” Go had said.
