PCA Open eyes top-flight field
Davis Cuppers Cecil Mamiit and Treat Huey have been invited to bolster the field in the Philippine Columbian Association Championships set Dec. 4 to 12 at the PCA courts in Paco, Manila. Organizers led by PCA president Donie Caniza yesterday launched the 29th edition of the country’s oldest tennis tournament that was ruled last year by repeat champions Johnny Arcilla and Czarina Mae Arevalo. “We’re expecting another exciting tournament this year,” said Caniza. Also present at the launch were Philippine Lawn Tennis Association president Lito Villanueva, PCA Open chair Roland Kraut, co-chair Al Gonzales and this year’s presenter, Jean Henri Lhuillier of Cebuana Lhuillier. The P500,000 event will kick off Nov. 6 with the inaugural staging of the executive team tennis tournament.
