Junior aces boost rankings

JUNIOR standouts Jurence Zosimo Mendoza and Albert Lim Jr. boosted their world rankings following decent performances in the recent B1 Asian Closed juniors championships in New Delhi.

Mendoza, who is turning 17 on May 29, surged to a career high 85th in singles which now gives him outright entry in higher level junior competitions in the future.

Turning 14 on May 14, Lim improved to 274th from as far back as 500 last year.

Mendoza and Lim reached quarterfinals in the boys’ doubles in New Delhi, beating hometown pair Aditya Deswal and Sachin Kumar, 6-4, 6-3. But they eventually bowed to Congsup Congkar of Thailand and Lee Duck Hee of South Korea, 6-0, 6-4.
