Meralco defeats PNP in four sets in Shakey’s V-League

MANILA, Philippines — Meralco defeated Philippine National Police, 25-19, 25-15, 16-25, 25-23, Friday in a battle of also-rans in the 10th Shakey’s V-League open conference at the Arena in San Juan.

Four Power Spikers delivered in double digits with skipper Maureen Ouano leading the way with 17 markers, including a game-best five blocks.

Meralco, hoping to conclude the tournament on a high note, improved its record to 4-7 even with the semifinals spot out of its reach.

After dropping the third set, 16-25, the Power Spikers doubled their effort to wrap the game up in the fourth.

Frances Molina and Janine Marciano each had a 17-point effort for the Lady Patrollers, while Sangmuang Patcharee had 14 but still weren’t enough to get them the win.

PNP dropped to 2-9 with just a game left to play this conference.
