Pampanga 5 gains semis

PAMPANGA Foton nipped Adamson University, 89-88, to barge into the  semifinals  of the Bulacan Republica Cup  basketball  tournament at  Malolos Convention Center recently.

The Foton Tornadoes overhauled an eight-point deficit in the last two minutes for  their  second  victory  in  four games, enough  to  join Sta. Lucia Realty, Malolos Mighty and AMA University  in  the  semifinals.

Foton,  mentored  by  former San Beda Red Lions coach Jonathan  Reyes, also represents Pampanga in  the Filsports Basketball Association (FBA).  Among its homegrown players are the UP Maroons’ Mikee Reyes and Arellano U Chiefs’ Levi Hernandez.

“Our players are getting the  needed  exposure to  toughen  up  for the FBA,” said Foton team  manager Alvin Lu. “Making  it  to  the  semifinals is  a  good  achievement  for  us  already.”
