PSSBC sweep for Archers, Dragons

De La Salle Zobel and Chiang Kai Shek College completed a sweep of the elimination rounds to advance to the quarterfinals of the 4th Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championships (PSSBC) Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Cup held Tuesday at Philippine Buddhacare gym.

With Brent Paraiso and Aljun Melecio leading the team’s rip-roaring start, the Junior Archers demolished the Lyceum Junior Pirates, 85-56, in Group A action.

DLSZ is the only UAAP squad to survive the rash of upsets as teams from NCAA and Fil-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) stamped their class in the annual tournament also backed by Molten as official ball.

The CKSC Dragons banked on the late-game heroics of Martin Galinato and Joshua Ramirez to down Adamson Baby Falcons, 55-47, and likewise sweep Group B.

The Blue Dragons’ win also gave the Mapua Red Robins a free ride into the quarterfinals.

Defending champion San Beda College and Xavier School earlier swept Groups D and C, respectively.

Hope Christian High School edged University of Santo Tomas, 75-71, to likewise advance to the next round.
