Choi named 2016 best karter
Veteran Jerry Choi bagged the X30 Senior title and finished second in the ROK Senior class to clinch the Karter of the Year award following the two-round finale of the 2016 Petron Karting Season held recently at Carmona Racing Circuit in Cavite.
Choi tallied a total of 190 points in the series, a whopping 50 points clear of runner-up Karl Wilhelm of Praga Racing, who placed third overall in the ROK Seniors and fifth in the X30 races.
Rainer Te settled for third (110 points) for placing second in the X30 Senior and ninth in the ROK Senior of the series sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).
Article continues after this advertisementIn ending six years of futility, Choi tabbed an automatic nomination to the Golden Wheel Driver of the Year award after also bagging the 2016 International Karter of the Year and Asian Senior Karter of the Year plums.
Eduardo Coseteng Jr. of Eagle Cement took the Junior Karter of the Year title after sweeping the X30 Junior and ROK Junior classes. —STEVE SILVA, RACING CONTRIBUTOR
