In terms of the ratio of playing years to finals appearances, De La Salle middle blocker Mary Joy Baron is a perfect four of four.

Baron is entering her fourth straight UAAP women’s volleyball finals after the Lady Spikers took care of University of Santo Tomas, 25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 25-13, Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

And it’s almost natural that Baron, who is the reigning Best Blocker in the league, is on a high for her forthcoming fourth title series.

“Personally, I’m confident because we’re also the champions from last year,” said Baron Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “It’s really a great feeling to defend the crown and the finals is a different landscape because the intensity changes.”

Baron, though, has experienced early heartbreak in her first two trips when La Salle lost to Ateneo twice before the Lady Spikers redeemed themselves and won Season 78.

And as far as finals preparations go, Baron knows too well how to not let their guard down.

“We’ll study and prepare whoever we’re going to face, as a team we’re confident on whoever we face,” said Baron.
